The Solar Eclipse can be admired at its best from Shwebo, one of the former capitals of Myanmar and the city that gave birth to Myanmar’s last royal dynasty. The city is located a 2-hour journey from Myanmar’s 2nd biggest city, Mandalay. Shwebo will in fact be right on the line where the sun will be obscured by the moon. Another city where a nice view shall be had is Monywa. In both Bagan and Mandalay the phenomenon is also visible. Because of the clear and generally cloud free skies to be expected in Myanmar during January this will be by far the best location worldwide where to witness this rare event and great opportunity for photography together with local astronomical expert.
