Tabin, the largest wildlife reserve in Malaysia, is twice the size of Singapore and offers towering rainforest trees rather than skyscrapers.

Itinerary
Day 01 / Arrive Sandakan – Sukau (-/L/D)
On arrival at Sandakan Airport before 08.00 hours, transfer to the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre for a video show. Trek ten minutes through the rainforest on wooden plank walks to witness the feeding of the orang utans at 10.00hrs.
Continue to Sandakan jetty for 2½ hours boat journey to multi awards winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge along Sabah’s longest river, Kinabatangan with opportunity to view birds and wildlife in virgin mangrove, wetland and rainforest habitats. Late afternoon take a river cruise using electric motor in search of some of the 10 primate species . Sukau is home to Borneo pygmy elephants, orang utans, proboscis monkeys and all eight species of hornbill in Borneo .
Return for solar heated hot shower, candle light dinner overlooking the riverbank and slide show conducted by naturalist guide. Overnight at the award winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge, named by National Geographic Adventure magazine in 2009 as one of the top 50 jungle lodges in the world.
Day 02 / Sukau (B/L/D)
Wake up to the calls of gibbons and hornbills. A 06.00hrs morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife. After breakfast, proceed for an educational tour on the Hornbill Boardwalk located behind the lodge with our in-house naturalist. You also have the option to participate in our Kinabatangan Wildlife Corridor Regeneration Programme (KWICORP) by planting trees on our 65 acres adopted land. In the afternoon, we proceed for another river cruise for more wildlife. After dinner an optional night safari cruise (at a surcharge) spotting nocturnal animals, crocodiles and birds. Overnight at Sukau Rainforest Lodge. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 03 / Sukau – Tabin Wildlife Reserve (B/L/D)
Depart for a 27km overland journey to Gomantong Caves . Trek 20 minutes through the rainforest to the cave entrance. Your guide will brief you on the cave fauna including bats, swiftlets and crabs among others and their contribution to maintain a balanced ecology and significance to the local economy. When in season, witness the collecting of birds’ nests by the local people using bamboo ladders and poles. Continue on another 2 hours drive to the town of Lahad Datu for lunch. Transfer from Lahad Datu to Tabin Wildlife Reserve, one of the largest wildlife reserves in Malaysia , on gravel road about 1 hour. Upon arrival, register, unpack and rest.
In the afternoon, visit the Lipad mud volcano located nearest to Tabin base. After trekking through the jungle for twenty minutes, arrive at the elevated bare area of the mud volcano that is known to be frequented by deer, wild boars, elephants and birds. Look out for and identify footprints of animals. Walk up the Observation Tower for wildlife viewing or bird photography. After dinner, there will be night activities to look out for nocturnal wildlife.
Day 04 / Tabin Wildlife Reserve (B/L/D)
Today, we trek through the lush green jungle known for its rich biodiversity of plants and animal species to visit Lipad’s Waterfall. Take a dip in the natural pool and enjoy the refreshing splash coming down from the waterfall. Explore the surrounding vegetation or just relax. Return to base in the afternoon. At dusk, go for bird watching within the reserve. After dinner, there will be night activities to look out for nocturnal wildlife on a different route.
Day 05 / Depart Tabin Wildlife Reserve (B/L/-)
After breakfast, stroll to the nearby rock pool or river side where groups of macaques and other small mammals can sometimes be seen. Choose to take a dip in the river or simply listen to the sound of nature before saying good-bye to Tabin. Transfer to Lahad Datu for departure flight.
