About Us

Who are we?
We are a boutique 11-year old company & a full-licence Travel Agency owned and operated by a team of passionate, energetic people who are fanatical about keeping intact, while sharing the natural and cultural environments of the places we visit.

Our Philosophy
We deal largely in ecotourism & adventure travel, but for us adventures are not just the rugged kind. An adventure can take many forms and need involve little that is overly strenuous - to us every trip is a voyage of discovery and hence an adventure. We do cultural trips as well as trips that involve trekking, mountain-biking, rafting, safaris, nature and wildlife trips, etc., the guiding philosophy behind each is that the trip be environmentally friendly and sustainable. This means impacting as little as possible on the peoples and places we visit, always respecting the distinctiveness and special qualities of each.

To sum up, we try:

  • To learn from nature & other cultures
  • To minimise impact on the natural & cultural environments
  • To return something to the local community
  • To facilitate self-determination for native peoples
  • To promote sustainable tourism
  • To have fun

We are committed to offering new and exciting itineraries along side our tried and classic tours. We believe that our travellers should receive the best experience possible from whichever journey they may choose by including numerous highlights (which are normally marketed by other operators as options) in our trips.
Unless noted as ‘exploratory’, our tours are always pre-booked in the areas of transfers, vehicles, accommodations, restaurants, excursions, etc. to avoid disappointments on arrival.

Where do we go?
Our forte is the countries in our own backyard - the fascinating, wonderful world of Asia. Within this world the diversity of landscapes and cultures provides any traveller with a multitude of places to visit. There are soaring, snow-capped mountains, densely forested hills and valleys, verdant rain forests, blue glaciated lakes and romantic emerald green bays dotted with limestone islets.

In the past, we limited ourselves to 3 principal areas: the Himalaya, Indochina & Borneo. However, recently we explored new regions and have now included journeys to destinations such as Thailand & Yunnan & Sichuan (China). These are places we are both familiar with and very fond of so we would really like to share them with you.

Other areas of adventure sports we have introduced with great success are scuba diving and adventure racing!

What do we do?
The way to move about our destinations must be environmentally-friendly as well as economically and physically efficient. This means we trek, raft, mountain-bike, kayak or use ponies, elephants or camels. We use mechanised transport when we have to cover long distances in limited time; even so, we use local modes of transportation as far as possible to maximise exposure to the local lifestyles and to get close to the people. As a consequence, during the tours there is a lot of opportunity to learn about and from the indigenous peoples.

Adventure travel, or any form of travel for that matter, is still ‘old economy’ as far as we’re concerned. (The only thing ‘new economy’ about us is the way we communicate with the world and pay for services). You’ll still have to take that flight into the desired country and then walk, hike, cycle or paddle - in some instances - huff & puff under your own steam if you want to experience these places. You may well pant, gasp, sweat, swear, whatever, but you’ll come away different….. and wanting to do it again.

When do we go?
Most destinations can be visited year-round, some destinations or activities have preferred seasons while others are just impossible during certain periods of the year.
As a general guide, the summer months (north hemisphiles, please note!) are great for Tibet & Bhutan and the northern areas of Pakistan. In the winter other parts of Pakistan, India, and Indochina are fantastic places to visit. Most Southeast Asian destinations like Thailand, Malaysia & Indonesia can be visited all year found.
