The Esala Perahera is a huge cultural pageant and one of the most colorful processions of the world. Thousands of drummers and dancers perform in the streets of Kandy accompanied by a parade of ornamented elephants. The leading tusker carries the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha, while the spectators pay homage to it.

Day 01 / Arrive Colombo
Arrive in Colombo at any time.
Day 02 / Kandy
Get up close with the elephants at the orphanage centre in Pinnawala. Continue on to Kandy, the ‘capital’ of the hill country, a relaxing lakeside town surrounded by hills and tea plantations.
Days / 03-04 Kandy Perahera
The significance of this great event is to invoke blessings of the gods to give the farmers rain to cultivate their crops. Thousands of drummers and dancers perform, accompanied by a parade of ornamented elephants. The leading tusker carries the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha through the streets, while the spectators pay homage to it.
Days / 05-06 Nuwara Eliya
Nuwara Eliya-situated in the central mountains at an altitude of over 6000 feet-is overlooked by Mt. Piduratalagala, the highest peak of Sri Lanka. Nuwara Eliya’s literal meaning is the City Of Light and was developed by Britishers as an exact replica of the British town. Nuwara Eliya produces some of the country’s best tea.
