5D Chiangmai Jungle Adventure
An opportunity to explore the deciduous forest of northern Thailand and learn something of the culture and way of life of the local hilltribes.
Day 01 / Arrive Chiangmai (-/-/-)
Arrive Chiangmai and transfer to hotel. The rest of the day at leisure.
Day 02 / Trekking (B/L/D)
Pick up from hotel after breakfast and depart from Chiangmai by road, heading north. Visit the local market in Mae Malai and then continue to Pong Dued hot spring for lunch. After lunch trek through the tropical forests about 2 hours (2 km.) for an opportunity to learn about flora and fauna and the secret of jungle herbs. Arrive at Karen village of Baan Pong Noi or Ban Pa Klauy for overnight. Time to swim, explore the village, learn how to do bamboo weaving, trap making, etc. and perhaps give the guide a hand in preparing the evening meal. Enjoy your first dinner in the jungle follows by an evening talk with the villagers for the legend of the hill tribes. Overnight in a bamboo hut.
Day 03 / Trekking (B/L/D)
After breakfast walk for 2 ½ - 3 hours passing the rice and vegetable fields of the villagers and learn their methods of cultivation. Explore the surrounding forests to study the local environment and learn how to survive in the forest. After lunch trek for about 2 hours to a Karen village of Baan Mae Ma Nai. Enjoy fishing at Mae tang River by local instruments and learn the technique of constructing a bamboo raft. Afterwards time for another refreshing swim and dinner preparation. Dinner and overnight at the rafting camp. Total walking distance of today is about 8 km.
Day 04 / Trekking - Chiangmai (B/L/-)
After breakfast watch the elephants taking their daily bath in the stream. Afterwards take an elephant-back ride through unspoiled natural forest for approximately 1 - 1½ hrs, 3 Km. Return to the camp to check your raft then enjoy the exciting bamboo rafting (20-25 km. in total) for 1 hour trip down Mae Tang River. Stop en route at a Lahu village. Continue rafting for about 1½ - 2 hours to a Shan village for lunch. Return to Chiang Mai by pick-up and transfer to hotel.
Day 05 / Depart Chiangmai (B/-/-)
Termination of the tour after breakfast.
Notes
- Not recommend for child under 7 years old
- Trekking itinerary is only a guideline and is subject to change without prior notice owing to local conditions
- Although the trek is rated is easy, one should, however, expect ascents and descents in the hills. The best way is to walk at own pace and the guide will adjust the stopping points to suit the fitness of the group.
- The activities in the afternoon of Day 03 and in the morning of Day 04 may be swapped (so the elephant riding might be on Day 03), depending on weather conditions.

- Tours and transfers by air-conditioned transport. Non air-conditioned transportation and open pick-up truck will be used in remote areas
- Accommodation will be at Standard hotels based on 02 persons in twin-bedded room, bed & breakfast basis. All rooms are air-conditioned with attached bath and toilet
- While trekking, accommodation will be in village huts. Sleeping facilities consist of a floor mat and a sheet. A rucksack, water canteen and lifejacket are supplied
- Full board while trekking (boiled water provided for drinking during the trek)
